📖Wild World ✍️Peter S. Rush
In his novel Wild World, Peter S. Rush tells the story of a man who feels compelled to act to improve the world and the corrupt system, even if it means giving up his easy, contented existence with his love. Despite his friends' warnings, he embarks on this adventure with the goal of doing good. Will he be able to accomplish that? To accomplish that, what cost should he incur? What if those who believed in his ability to accomplish good now condemn him? What if the individual is his soul mate?
Young and intensely in love, Steve Logan and Roxanne Fischer were about to get their degrees from Brown University. When four students died in Ohio in May 1970 while participating in a protest against the U.S. government's war in Vietnam, their lives were forever changed. During that rally, police officer David Durk inspired him and believes he should do his part to improve the world. He attempts to be with his girlfriend, Roxy, and improve the community by joining the Providence police department. He was seen negatively in the department because he had a university degree, which a lot of his colleagues lacked, and he didn't do things the way they were typically done. Furthermore, he's not the Steve Roxy was used to seeing, she says. The distance between them widens. Will she be his staunchest ally until he succeeds? How can he be good with such a corrupt system all around him? Will he succeed in doing what he thought was right with no one to help him?
Wild World is a good story. The main character actively works to change the broken system, unlike many who just talk and talk. This is not a story where the protagonist makes perfect decisions at every stage. In terms of results, it is more believable. The narrative seemed so genuine.
There isn't much wrong with this story besides the fact that the protagonist's problems, both personal and professional, occasionally seem more mental than actual problems.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Because the story feels so acceptable and real. The editing of the book is good.
It's most appropriate for adults in many instances where specifics of sexual activity, coarse language, drugs, and violence are revealed. I would suggest this book to anyone looking for a non-glitzy good cop story with elements of romance.
